The Pacifica Ocean
Discovery Center was formed in 1997 by a group of Pacifica residents.
We are a grassroots organization dedicated to establishing a much needed
and easily accessible marine educational resource in Pacifica,
CA.
The Pacifica Ocean Discovery Center is a
501 (c)3 non-profit organization.
Our
Mission
1. To heighten public awareness
of local marine animals,
the habitats in which they live and issues that concern them.
2. To educate the public about
our social, cultural and
economic ties to the local coastal ocean.
3. To provide an outreach education
program for local, and Bay Area
schools so that students may learn about the beautiful San Mateo
coast and the fascinating animals that live here.
4. To collaborate with and support
local environmental groups as a
"coastal alliance" to promote marine education, conservation,
pollution prevention and habitat preservation.
